Top rated hydraulic seal manufacturer: What are Mechanical Seals? Mechanical seals are devices that accommodate a rotating shaft while containing and preventing the fluid from leaking out of the enclosed housing. While different mechanical seal designs are available for pumping applications, most have three sealing points. Rotating face that rotates with the shaft; Stationary face fitted to the pump housing; Interface portion between the rotating and stationary face of the seal. These three sealing points ensure that the fluid contained within the pump housing does not leak while also preventing dust particles in the atmosphere from entering the housing. The mechanical seals are usually made up of different materials to prevent sticking. Typically, one side of the seal uses softer materials like carbon graphite, and the other is made of harder materials such as silicon carbide or ceramic alumina. However, hard materials are preferred for both surfaces if the pumping application involves abrasive fluids. In addition to the two materials, the sealing unit also comes with O-rings to seal the stationary face on the housing side and the rotating face on the shaft side. Springs are also used to keep both faces pressed. In most cases, the two faces of the seals are also lubricated to prevent friction and wear. Depending on the application, this fluid film can either be a separate lubricant or the process fluid itself. Read more information at hydraulic seal suppliers.
Without the pressure pushing them apart the two seal faces would be in full contact, this is known as dry running and would lead to rapid seal failure. Without the process pressure (and the force of the springs) pushing the faces together the seal faces would separate too far, and allow fluid to leak out. Mechanical seal engineering focuses on increasing the longevity of the primary seal faces by ensuring a high quality of lubricating fluid, and by selecting appropriate seal face materials for the process being pumped. When we talk about leakage we are referring to visible leakage of the seal. This is because as detailed above, a very thin fluid film holds the two seal faces apart from each other. By maintaining a micro-gap a leak path is created making it impossible for a mechanical seal to be totally leak free. What we can say, however, is that unlike gland packing, the amount of leakage on a mechanical seal should be so low as to be visually undetectable.
Sealing performance over conventional O-rings is achieved by reducing particle generation, extending seal life and minimizing replacement time during preventive maintenance. Compared to traditional O-rings, this seal effectively reduces the number of dust particles generated during operation and extends the life of the machine with bonded seals installed. The seal has a working diameter range of 6.5 to 60.58mm.
The rod seal is the most important sealing component designed by DMS SEALS in the liquid sealing application. It can effectively prevent the liquid inside the cylinder from leaking to the outside. Moreover, if there is a leakage problem in the rod seal, the performance of the equipment will be degraded. There are even some machine and human safety issues in extreme cases. This type of seal meets the standards of GB/T 15242.1-94 and GB/T 15242.3-94. It is ideal for high and low-speed reciprocating rods and rods in high-pressure system cylinders. Moreover, it can be used in a variety of fluids and high-temperature environments. It is characterized by its high corrosion resistance and its ability to work well in a corrosive media with no oil spots. It has high stability under pressure and harsh conditions. The outstanding advantages of our seals are strong wear resistance, resistance to extrusion, low friction and no stick-slip.
Gasket sealing mechanism: The function of the gasket is caused by the blocking effect on the internal medium formed by the contact pressure of the sealing material on the joint surface and the elastic restoring force to the external tightening force. Classification and structure of gaskets: Gaskets are divided into three categories: non-metallic gaskets, non-metallic and metal combined gaskets and metal gaskets. The common materials are rubber, leather, asbestos board, cork, PTFE, tinplate, steel, aluminum, copper and stainless steel.

Construction machinery sealing system requirements: High and low temperature resistance Because of continuous work for a long time, if it is outdoors in summer, the hydraulic oil temperature of the machine may exceed 100°C, which requires the seal to be resistant to high temperature. If it is outdoors in winter, the temperature may be around -40°C when it is just turned on, and the seals are required to be resistant to low temperatures. Therefore, the sealing system is required to withstand a wide temperature range. The machine itself walks. Due to the limitation of volume and weight, the hydraulic oil tank is generally relatively small.
The bearing seal maintains lubrication where needed and helps protect the working part from abrasive particles and corrosive moisture. The seals are precisely configured to provide extremely low friction and excellent contamination resistance. It is perfect for high speed or low torque equipment as well as dusty environments. Moreover, the seal is reasonably designed to provide superior resistance to foreign particles.
