The plastic enconomic resistive HMI panel is very high advantage competitive series. Typically, a heartbeat detection is used to define the BOOL, the HMI sets this point at a fixed frequency and the PLC resets when it receives a signal that the point is on. If no signal is received for that point to turn on for a period of time, e.g. 5s, the communication is considered broken. The PLC’s memory clock byte is passed to the touch panel interface, which uses a script to assign the value of this byte to an address in another PLC, which then determines whether the two scan cycles of the returned byte are the same. If so, the communication is interrupted.
